The education department of the state government has announced to resume classroom education for first year students in state colleges from February 8, 2021 (Monday). The resolution issued by the education department in this regard states that when the classrooms for the first year academic course are started, safe social distance between the two students should be observed as well as seating arrangement of the students should be arranged in Zig-Zag, Stagardman.

Mrs. Anju Sharma, Principal Secretary, Education gave further details of the decision. He said that as the severity of Corona transition in the state is declining day by day, in the long run educational interest of the students, the state government has earlier finalized all postgraduate, PhD, M.Phil courses as well as medical, paramedical and other graduate courses in the first phase from January 11, 2021. Classrooms are physically started for all year-final year students.

The state government decided to start a hostel

All Samaras Hostels run by the State Government which were earlier functioning as Covid-19 Designate Center. The Department of Education has also set up a SOP to reopen such hostels for students' accommodation as the transition to Koro is declining. As a precautionary measure, hand hygiene, social distance and other necessary measures should be ensured before reopening such a harmonious hostel.

Hostels will also have to follow the SOP
According to the SOP, no more than two students will be allowed to stay together in one room in the hostel. Not only that, a student with Covid-19 features will not be allowed to enter or stay in the hostel under any circumstances. Thermal screening of all students staying in the hostel will have to be ensured. The dining room / kitchen should be kept clean. Avoiding overcrowding. Meals should be served in small groups. Meals in the room for students and staff should be arranged in such a way that it is easy and immediately available. The campus of the hostel should be organized in such a way that there is no crowd and for that the number of students should be limited properly. Students will have to be called in stages for this. Students are expected to adhere to self-discipline and careful behavior regarding covid on hostel campuses. Students should observe regular and proper hand hygiene, maintain social distance, avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth, always adhere to wearing face mask.
  1. Sanitizers should be provided on every floor of the hostel and after exchanging items with students / staff, it is advisable to use sanitizers after touching surfaces like walls, doors, door handles, stair railings, switches etc.
  2. Kovid is also expected to adhere to social distance standards when using the washroom as a matter of self-discipline as part of precaution.
  3. Social distance should be maintained in the corridor, no student gathering should be allowed.
  4. Gathering in any part of the hostel building should not be allowed and students should also avoid meeting in groups.
  5. Outside the hostel and in the hostel garden, students should avoid gathering or sitting in groups.
  6. The gym facility on campus will also be closed, as all types of sports that may involve physical contact are not allowed.
  7. It is imperative to introduce a slot-based coupon system in restaurants to ensure full compliance with the Covid-12 rules.
  8. Employees on duty in the restaurant hall and kitchen will be checked for health status every day before starting their duty and face-mask, headcover and hand gloves will be mandatory during the duty. Restaurant staff also have to observe social distance.
  9. Using food grade disinfectants for cleaning surfaces and floors. Do not use any bleach, washing soda, detergent powder to wash vegetables or other foods. Fresh vegetables and other foods should be washed with warm water before cutting.
  10. Encourage students to maintain self-discipline and avoid crowding inside the dining hall for deployment.
  11. Since the points of the frequently used waterroom are extremely sensitive, care must be taken in hand hygiene before or after touching them. Make appropriate arrangements to ensure minimal touch by hand.
  12. Proper adherence to mask, social distance and line system.
  13. Hygiene conditions in kitchens, dining halls, bathrooms and toilets etc. should be regularly monitored.
  14. It remains to be seen if the utensils are properly cleaned.
  15. It is important to ensure that fresh food is cooked so a senior staff member can monitor it.
  16. Reporting suspicious cases: Preventing the entry of any person with fever and cough and shortness of breath, in such cases it will be mandatory to report to the concerned department. Such a person should be taken immediately to the nearest quarantine facility or to the nearest Kovid Hospital.
  17. Encourage everyone to bring their own water bottle and avoid using general water bottle / mug / glass.
  18. Every organization should regularly monitor the health of its students, staff and employees.
  19. Staff and students should also take precautions to self-monitor their health.
  20. Any staff and students or any of their family members who have been infected / have been treated for Covid-19 should also do so voluntarily.
  21. In case of any illness / health symptoms the working staff should be sent to the nearest COVID treatment facility for clinical treatment.
  22. Employees must strictly follow the rules of social distance provided by the system for lunch and the number of students in the dining hall must be monitored by security guards and mess staff.
  23. Adequate provision of thermal scanners, sanitizers, etc. should be made available at all entry and exit points including the reception area.
  24. Making and adhering to specific markings with a distance of 5 feet at the gate to ensure line arrangement at the entry / exit of the hostel campus.
  25. If the organization has more than one gate for entry / exit, use all the gates with due care to avoid congestion.
  26. Screening of students, staff and employees, wearing face masks, hand sanitizing etc. must be ensured at every entry point.
  27. Do not allow people with symptoms of fever, cough or shortness of breath to enter.
  28. The front secretary of education has requested the state government to comply with the SOP issued by the education department to start classrooms for the first year academic work of colleges and also to reuse hostels for accommodation purposes.

Classes from 9 to 12 were started earlier
Std-9 and 11 classes were started in the state from February 1. Classes were started in state schools including Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat and Rajkot following the Covid guideline. In which special attention is being paid to the safety of children. There are approximately 9 to 10 lakh students in Std-9 and about 6 lakh students in Std-11. Earlier standard 10 and 12 classes were started. Competitive exam coaching classes are allowed to start. However, consideration is being given to start classes from standard 6 to 8.
